I promise you and your family and friends a different and memorable holiday in a very homely, farmhouse type resort.

We have 17 non a.c. rooms. We can accommodate about 70 persons comfortably. Out of 17 rooms, 5 rooms are with 2 or 3 beds and 12 rooms have 4/5 Beds.

We have operational swimming pool.

FOLLOWING IS THE ITINERARY:

We have more outdoor activities like treks, jungle walks, Vanabhojan and Day Jungle safari, which is more extensive after monsoon because we can take you inside jungles and make it more interesting.

The basic theme is holiday with nature. Hence, we are , total outdoor activity destination.

Amba is situated on NH204 connecting Kolhapur and Ratnagiri. This place is practically at the center of Chandoli National Forest of 314 sq. kilometres.These forests have been declared as heritage forests because, of rare and best biodiversity, by UNESCO. Of this, we are just outside Vishalgad reserved forest.We are an outdoor activity destination with indoor activities like Children’s playground, Tree house, Camp fire and Bar-B-Q. Our activities are as given below.

WE OFFER SHORT/LONG TREKS IN CORE AREA OF THE RESERVED FORESTS PLUS, VERY PLEASANT MORNING TRAILS TO VARIOUS POINTS.

We serve both veg and non veg meals (Indian Style only) We have 15 non a.c. deluxe rooms and a common hall which can accommodate about 16 persons.
We have separate veg and non veg kitchens, cooks and utensils and dinning halls.

To reach Amba from Kolhapur:

Please take Ratnagiri road passing over PanchGanga river. You will pass through Bambavde and Malkapur. 17 kms after Malkapur, you will reach Amba village.

To reach Amba from Pune: By Public Transport

1. If you are coming by bus, please get off at Karad. We can arrange pick up for Rs.1850/- for a vehicle which can accommodate 6-7 persons. OR

2. Either take bus from Swargate to Ganpatipule/Ratnagiri (coming via KOKRUD) or Pune Ratnagiri via Kolhapur starting at around 2100 hrs.

3. Take bus from Swargate to Kolhapur early morning and from Kolhapur take any bus going in the direction of Ratnagiri/Rajapur/Chiplun via Amba ghat and get off at Amba village and we shall pick you I from bus stop.

4. Take Mahalaxmi express at 0000 hrs from pune station reaching Kolhapur at 0715 and just outside rly station take any bus going in the direction of Ratnagiri/Rajapur/Chiplun via Amba ghat and get off at Amba village and we shall pick you up from bus stop.

To reach Amba from Mumbai : By public transport

1. Either take Mahalaxmi Express or Sahyadri Express from Mumbai, reaching Kolhapur in the morning.
Then a) either we can arrange pick up for you for Rs.1850/- for a vehicle which can accommodate 6-7 persons.
b)You can also take any ST bus going in the direction of Ratnagiri and get off at Amba and we will pick you up.

OR

2. Take either A.C. sleeper bus up to Kolhapur and same arrangements from Kolhapur as above.

OR

3. Take 2×2 non A.C. sleeper bus from most of the parts of Mumbai and reach Malkapur (on Kolhapur-Ratnagiri Road) or Amba directly. Give us a call and we shall help you with bookings.

IF YOU ARE COMING BY YOUR OWN VEHICLE FROM PUNE/MUMBAI, PLEASE FOLLOW DIRECTIONS GIVEN BELOW.

Following are the road route directions from Pune:

– Take Pune-Bangalore road and reach up to Karad About 6 kms after Karad.
– Keep vehicle to left side of the road and when you see a board on left hand side of the road saying KOLHAPUR 66 you will see a fly over about one kilometer in front of you.
– Before this there is a road sign of a petrol pump, with arrow towards right hand side. DO NOT CLIMB this flyover. Instead leave highway and join service road on left hand side of highway.
– Take RIGHT turn below fly-over. The road is marked as Kale phata. Proceed on this road turning, to your left at all junctions but not leaving this State Highway.
– After passing through Undale and Yenpe and shedgeWadi, ALWAYS following main road and do not take any right turn ( all left turns).
– After a distance of 32 kms you will reach KOKRUD. Here you will get one sawmill and Bharat Petroleum petrol pump near each other on your RIGHT hand side and you reach T junction before Kokrud. Here you take RIGHT TURN.
– You will pass through Kokrud and then pass over a bridge on a river. Immediately after bridge take RIGHT TURN and 16kms further following road signs you will reach MALKAPUR.
– Here at the ‘T’ junction turn to right. This is Kolhapur Ratnagiri National highway NH204.
– Travel 16 kms on this road and you will reach AMBA Gaon junction (naka).
– Continue about 600 meters towards Ratnagiri. Here the road is a little uphill.
– You will see small HORNBILL board on right hand side of the road and school named AMBESHWAR Vidyalaya and PARNAKUTI Bungalow on left hand side of the road but, before Savai Mansingh Resort.
– In between these two there is small tar road. Take left turn here and travel about 300 meters and on your right hand side you will see a large structure with red tiles.This is our HORNBILL

We shall prefer if you can reach HORNBILL in the morning by10000-1030 hrs so that we can take you out to nature full day- we can spend whole day in outdoor activities.

OR WE SHALL ADJUST YOUR ITINERARY AS PER YOUR TIME OF ARRIVAL.

DAY ONE:

After breakfast, we start by our vehicles which are made for Jungle safari. First we take you on a guided tour of Forest dept.’s Nisarga Maahiti Kendra . Then, we take you on a tar road for Jungle safari through the jungles giving you lots of information about flora, fauna and various species of plants. Next we take you on a refreshing jungle walk in dense forests followed by interesting trek . Then we take you to visit KONKAN KADA and to WAGH ZARI.
At about 1400 hrs, we head for VANABHOJAN in thick of the jungle. Then we visit Baaji Prabhu Deshpande famed PAAWAN KHIND. We show you this historical place with narration of history. Paavan Khind has a very nice and safe water fall under which you can go. We return to HORNBILL by about 2030 hrs. On our return journey we do Night Jungle Safari with search light.

DAY TWO:

In the morning we take for a lovely nature trail to amazing places at 0700 hrs and return for breakfast by 0930 hrs. After breakfast, we visit DEVRAI This is about 800 years old man made forest to look after ecology. We explain you the concepts of DEVRAI and take you through it. Here we also have Tree climbing and other activities. Then we take you to see TEA GARDENS and then on to one of the best Nurseries of Maharashtra spread over 45 acres . You return for lunch by 1430 hrs. In the evening we shall take you to beautiful and picturesque MANOLI DAM . Here you can play in pure clean waters or swim.

Before dinner have Veg and Non Veg Bar-B-Q by the CAMP FIRE.

DAY THREE:

1. If you are interested, we can take you on 3-4 hours long TREK in core area and in the evening you can relax at HORNBILL or visit Sun Set point.

2. you can visit prachin and natural Shiv temple, inside a cave at MARLESHWAR and/or you can visit Dervan, Hedvi and Velneshwar near Chiplun. OR

On your return journey, you can visit:

1. Panhala fort

2. Kolhapur – Mahalaxmi Temple, New palace museum and few places of interest

3. Siddhagiri museum in Kanheri math about 16 kms from Kolhapur. This is the only museum of it’s kind in India.

We can arrange a vehicle for you which, will stay with you whole day and above itinerary. You will be dropped at Kolhapur Central bus station by 1800 hrs. Such vehicle is available @Rs.2850/- After 1800 hrs you can go for shopping, dinner and take Konduskar sleeper/train back to your destination.

ALL THE TOURS OUTSIDE AMBA (other than day one and two) are to be done either by your vehicle or hired vehicle, for which, additional charges are applicable. Please check with us for these charges.

WE SHALL ARRANGE VERY EXCITING NIGHT JUNGLE SAFARI in any of the evenings during your stay.(subject to permission from Forest Department)

Tour of Amba from Mumbai
Route : Ex Mumbai/Thane/Navi Mumbai
Duration : 4 Days /3 Nights

Day 1:

  • Start at morning 6 am.
  • For breakfast as per your choice:
    • Vitthal Kamat after panvel or
    • Ruchi restaurant near Nagothane for South Indian snacks or
    • Amantran restaurant at Wadkhal naka for Batatawada and missal etc.
  • First stop is to Visit Parshuram temple and Vasishthi darshan point in Parshuram Ghat 19 kms before Chiplun.
  • Second halt at Derwan-Shiv-SamarthGad about 18 kms after Chiplun near Savarde where they have depicted a few incidences from the life of Shivaji Maharaj by building thousands of statues.(only place of it’s kind).
  • Lunch Vegetarian and/or Non-vegetarian As per your choice and either
  • at Chiplun (Malwani) or
  • at Savarde (Maratha food).
  • After lunch we head for Marleshwar mandir near Devrukh. This Shiv Mandir is on a hill with very easy 520 steps to climb. Temple is inside cave with two shivlinga’s. This is a famous and a Jaagrut Shiv mandir. The view around the temple is beautiful. Also, there is waterfall nearby.
  • After Marleshwar, we head for our Hornbill Deluxe Hill resort. Dinner is served as per your choice of menu given to us by you earlier.

Day 2:

  • Morning tea and biscuits at 6.30 am to 7am.
  • Breakfast is served between 8.30 am and 9.30 am. As per your choice, normally 2-3 items are served.
  • After breakfast we head for Baaji Prabhu Deshpande’s famed Paavan Khind which is about 18 kms from our Hornbill Deluxe Hill resort in the Vishalgad reserved forest. There is small trek of 20 minutes one way to reach this historic place.
  • Then we visit Kasari Dam and its breath taking backwater.
  • Then we visit Konkan Kada and Waghzari.
  • Vanabhojan (Lunch) will be done at clearing in jungles. Here we have few hammocks etc. for you to swing on and relax.
  • After Vanabhojan we take a small tour of jungle.
  • If you are interested, we will take you to Vishalgad or visit the beautiful Manoli dam. This is one of the few dams on which, you can go on the dam wall. View is fantastic and you can also go for swim in reservoir.
  • In the evening we head for our Hornbill Deluxe Hill resort for evening tea and snacks.
  • After that we go back to jungle for Jungle Safari sitting on top of the jeep to see wild life.
  • At about 9 pm we come back our Hornbill Deluxe Hill resort for Barbeque (Vegetarian & Non-vegetarian separate) followed by dinner.

Day 3:

  • After breakfast we head for Panhala fort, which is about 40 kms from our Hornbill Deluxe Hill resort. Here we hire licensed guide who explains the history of Panhala during tour of fort.
  • Then we head for Kolhapur. Here we visit the following palaces for a
    • Superb Museum
    • Zoo
    • Mahalakshmi mandir
    • Rankala Lake.
  • In-between, we will have lunch (vegetarian or non-vegetarian as per your choice) at Kolhapur and take some time for shopping.
  • On our return journey we visit the Jyotiba mandir.

Day 4:

  • After early breakfast we head for Ganpatipule which is 80 kms from our Hornbill Deluxe Hill resort.
  • After Darshan and beach, we head for Hedvi via Rai-Bhatgaon bridge. This bridge is on Jaigad creek and is a very scenic spot. Hedvi is famous for Dashabhuja Ganesh mandir, which is about 430 years old, and a beautiful beach with Suru Ban.
  • We have lunch at Hedvi -special Kokanastha Brahmin vegetarian food with Aamras or Ukadiche modak or Non vegetarian lunch as per your choice.
  • From here we head for Velneshwar, Shiv mandir here is of different construction and is more than 400 years old. Velneshwar beach is safe & beautiful with practically no one on the beach.
  • We come out on Mumbai Goa road few kms after Chiplun and head for Mumbai with one tea-snacks break. We are expected to reach Mumbai before 2130 hrs.
  • The route on Day-4 is specially chosen to let you enjoy the real beauty of Konkan. There are lots of picturesque spots en route.

Day 5 (Optional):

If you have 5 days in hand we can add one Memorable day of outing: Mavshi che gaon

  • We visit a typical Konkan house near Rajapur with Mango-Soopari-Naral baug, Mango & Cashew nuts garden.
  • You can go swimming in the river.
  • Enjoy typical Konkani Brahmin snacks and meals.
  • We can also do some local sight seeing.
  • Optionally you can drop Day 3 or Day 4 program and choose to go to Mavshi che gaon and still have a tour of 4 days 3 nights.

If you do not have 4 days to spare then we can reduce the tour duration by adjusting the itinerary accordingly

Day 1:

Distance From Chandani Chowk, Pune To Hornbill Deluxe Hill Resort, Amba Ghat is Around 234 Kms Hence Max 3.5 Hours Of Driving Time

  • Start from Pune at 7 am.
  • You can visit Shree Datta Mandir and Prati Balaji Mandir at Narayanpur off Kapurhol on Pune-Bangalore highway.
  • From there proceed directly to Hornbill Deluxe Hill Resort, Amba Ghat via Satara and Karad.
  • Driving direction:
    • About 4 kms after Karad keep vehicle to left side of the road and
    • when you see a board on left hand side of the road saying ‘Kolhapur 65‘ you will see a fly over in front of you.
    • Do not go over this flyover, instead leave highway and join service road on left hand side of highway.
    • Take Right turn below Fly over. The road is marked as Kale phata.
    • Proceed on this road turning to your left at all junctions but not leaving this State Highway.
    • After 32 kms and passing through Undale, Yenpe, you will reach Kokrud and
    • 16 kms further following road signs you will reach Malkapur.
    • Here at this ‘T’ junction turn right to Kolhapur Ratnagiri National highway NH204.
    • Travel 16 kms on this road and you will reach AMBA gaon junction (naka).
    • Continue 1km towards Ratnagiri. Here the road is little uphill.

  • After lunch and some rest, we will take you to one of the few of the last remaining Devrai around the local Ambeshwar Mandir which, is about 650 years old and Manoli Dam so that you can enjoy its picturesque view.

Day 2:

  • After this you can visit Ratnagiri and Pawas and return to Hornbill for dinner.

Day 5:

A Memorable day of outing: Mavshi che gaon

  • We visit a typical Konkan house near Rajapur with Mango-Soopari-Naral baug, Mango & Cashew nuts garden.
  • You can go swimming in the river.
  • Enjoy typical Konkani Brahmin snacks and meals.
  • We can also do some local sight seeing.
  • Optionally you can drop Day 3 or Day 4 program and choose to go to Mavshi che gaon and still have a tour of 4 days 3 nights.

Day 6:

  • We start after breakfast and visit Derwan-Shiv-SamarthGad about 78 kms from our Hornbill Deluxe Hill Resort and 28 kms from Sangameshwar near Savarde where they have depicted a few incidences from the life of Shivaji Maharaj by constructing thousands of statues. (only place of it’s kind)
  • Lunch Vegetarian and/or Non vegetarian As per your choice at Savarde (Maratha food)
  • After that you can visit Hedvi which is famous for original Dashabhuja Ganesh mandir, which is about 430 years old, and a beautiful beach with Suru Ban.
  • You can alternatively have lunch at Hedvi. Special Kokanastha Brahmin vegetarian food with Aamras or Ukadiche modak.
  • Here you can go for boating in sea.

  • Leave Mumbai at 6 am. My tour manager will join you at Vashi. When you approach Vashi, do not take fly over but road to the left of fly over. After signal at Asiad bus stop my Tour Manager will join you and drive your vehicle also if necessary. There is no charge for this service offered but you may tip the person suitably. The advantage of starting early is, you do not face traffic especially from Dehu road to Katraj and further near Satara.
  • You will have breakfast at Khed Shivapur after Pune.
  • Just few kilometers from there off Kapurhol you will Visit famous Prati Balaji Mandir at Narayanpur.
  • After this you will proceed directly to Hornbill Deluxe Hill Resort, Amba Ghat. You will reach by about 1400 hrs for lunch.

Alternatives:

  • Program of Day 3 and Day 4 can be interchanged. In this case you proceed to Mumbai via Goa Road (335 kms from Ganpatipule), also visiting Shiv Samarth Gad at Derwan and if time permits Parshuram Temple just after Chiplun.
  • If you decide not to visit Ganpatipule, we have time to visit Raigad Fort. The fare for Ropeway is to be borne by you and is not included in the tariff.
  • If you decide to only relax with nature for 2-3 days then, we can drop Day 3 and Day 4 sightseeing and proceed to Mumbai directly from Hornbill Deluxe Hill Resort

Note:
We can arrange transport (Jeep/s carrying up to 9 persons) for you to go on following one day trips

Trip 1:

  • Leave after breakfast from the Hornbill Resort.
  • First visit Panhala fort. We arrange guided tour of 1 ½ hours of Panhala fort.
  • From here we will proceed to New Palace museum at Kolhapur.
  • After lunch at Rajpurush visit Mahalaxmi temple and then onto shopping.
  • On return journey to Hornbill Resort visit Jyotiba Mandir.
  • Or if this program is arranged on last leg of your journey, we visit Jyotiba Mandir after Panhala and the vehicle can drop you at Kolhapur Railway station for your return journey at 1845 hrs.

Total distance about 175 kms.
Transport Cost Rs.1500/- plus guide fees for Panhala fort and entry fees of museum

Trip 2:

  • Leave after breakfast from the Hornbill Resort.
  • Visit Kanheri Math and Siddheswar Museum near Gokul Shirgaon. This is a beautiful museum where they have sculptures of 12 Balutedars and various walks of life of rural Maharashtra. Time needed – 2 ½ to 3 hrs.
  • After Lunch, proceed to visit Ramalinga temple, gigantic Ganesh Idol at top, and Narsobachi Waadi and return to Hornbill by about 2000 hrs.

Total distance about 280 kms.
Transport Cost Rs.2000/- plus entry fee of museum

Trip 3:

  • Leave after breakfast from the Hornbill Resort.
  • Visit Prachin and Jagrut Shiv Mandir at Marleshwar.
  • Proceed to Shiv Samarth Gad at Derwan. It is the only place with painted sculptures on Shivaji Maharaj in such large numbers.
  • After lunch, proceed to visit Dashabhuja Ganesh Mandir at Hedvi and its beautiful beach and then on to Velneshwar.
  • And return to the Hornbill Resort by about 2000 hrs.

Total distance about 310 kms.

Trip 4:

  • Leave after breakfast from the Hornbill Resort.
  • Visit Ganpatipule Mandir and beautiful beach.
